One of Kelvin’s various certifications is its IP44 rating, making it an extremely durable infrared heater. But what exactly is an IP rating?
What is an IP rating?
IP stands for Ingress Protection, which is a standardized rating system that evaluates how effectively a device is shielded from and resistant to both solid particles like dust and liquids such as water or moisture.
First digit – Solids
The first digit indicates the level of protection that the enclosure provides against the ingress of solid foreign objects, from tools or fingers that could be hazardous if they came into contact with electrical conductors or moving parts, to airborne dirt and dust that could damage circuitry.
Second digit – Liquids
The second digit defines the protection of the equipment inside the enclosure against various forms of moisture (drips, sprays, submersion etc).
Kelvin’s IP44 Rating
With an IP44 rating, Kelvin is classified as splashproof. This means that Kelvin is designed to withstand exposure to water splashes and moisture. As a result, you can confidently use Kelvin in areas where it may come into contact with moisture in your home or workspace.
Where You Can Use Kelvin
Indoor spaces that come in contact with moisture: Kelvin can be safely used in bathrooms and kitchens, where resistance to water splashes and moisture is needed.
Commercial spaces: Kelvin is a great choice for commercial establishments and businesses such as restaurants and professional workspaces where a level of moisture resistance is required.
